A Hot Cold Case
Words create impressions, uphold expectations and have the ability to influence how we think and live. This installation explores the power of words and their juxtaposition with certain objects to give context and uphold a particular perspective. The individual words have been taken from West Australian Archives of early colonial documents and the Bussell family diaries affirming a particular (paternalistic/colonial) attitude. In terms of contemporary use, some are still used to sustain a similar privileged viewpoint in spite of the passage of time since colonisation.
