2010 | Old Mallokup Bridge
Shire of Capel
This historic bridge site interpretation was undertaken after extensive research by the shire of Capel. The design concept focused on the history of the area, the water coursing around the bridge pylons and the 'path' of the Wagylle. The seat was placed so that viewers could look out over the wetlands and the farming lands settled early in the colonial history of the Capel Shire.
A significant part of the interpretation was the use of materials from old wooden bridge. The magnificent upright beams were originally the road bearers and the post and rail fences originally the bridge handrail.
