Helen Seiver - Cherish

Medium of Artwork:
Found lino, thread, and glue on board

This work uses scraps of lino flooring to speak to the story of 'home'. It shows the countless marks of history, paint drips of rooms renewed, scuff marks and places worn down by many feet. To me it expresses heartfelt memories of patience, tolerance, the security of warm beds, wholesome food, and of the rooms made 'special' for celebration and family time. The ordered lines of lino and stitching express the consistency of support, the patching of the torn and worn, and of making do: The provision of what is necessary and the threads of conversation over a life time.
