2023 | Emergences Exhibition at Holmes à Court Gallery | Vasse Felix

29 January to 5 March 2023

COVID-19 altered the focus of long-planned Pilbara travel to expand on an ongoing and very personal body of work. My practice became internal, quiet, and my processes more contemplative.

This work uses the shape and the imagined geographical boundary of the Nullagine River to speak about the framing and creation of psychological boundaries of making art within personal context. Through intentional processes this work attempts to untangle the threads, then re-weave the story by darning and repairing, making whole, healing and cleansing.
The result is a red river, flowing, full of passion and potential; it's a border, one side darkness and the other of light. A place and moment to return to year after year to do the work, to heal and forgive.
